What You'll Do
UCETG seeks an Acoustic Engineer to define, design and build Cisco IP phones that generate significant revenue and leading the Collaboration Industry Experience. You will champion new methodologies and create scalable software/Hardware solutions that interact with widely deployed Internet products, thereby touching an endless number of users worldwide. Be part of the Cisco organization that is driving the evolution and expansion into new technology areas and market segments. The ideal candidate demonstrates a system-level focus while understanding the impact of Acoustic Design in terms of components from SW, HW and ME perspective. Broad knowledge of and exposure to DSP as well as embedded and real-time operating systems are essential for success in this role. Participate on a project team of engineers involved in development of software and hardware for IP phone from Acoustic and Voice quality perspective. Requires use of a strong background Acoustic design and ME/HW background on projects that may include any of the following list of responsibilities:
Translate product requirements into acoustic design options
Select, specify, and evaluate transducers as necessary
Evaluate design options through comprehensive computer modeling and extensive measurements and critical listening on physical prototypes. Engage support groups as necessary
Closely co-operate with mechanical, systems, and DSP engineers to select the best design for the product.
Develop production ready designs and maintain highest performance throughout the development cycle
Support manufacturing startup and continuous engineering
Provide input to marketing in setting product requirements for new products
Ensure the highest level of sound quality of the product
Plan development schedules & milestones
Who You Are
Typically requires MSEE/CS combined with 7-8 years of acoustic design experience, or BSEE/CS combined with 7-10+ yrs Acoustic design experience. Electrical Engineer, Mechanical Engineer or Physicist, M.Sc. or Ph.D. preferred.
Familiar in product design / engineering / production
Deep understand of Acoustic design e.g. SLR, RLR, SMTR, Frequency response, R&B, THD, impulse response, vibration trouble shooting, chamber design, etc.
Familiar with Acoustic standard like ETSI 202 737/738/739/740, TIA810B, TIA920, ACA-S040, NZ PTC-220, has HAC design and testing experience.
Fluent in at least one acoustic computer modeling tool (e.g. Pspice, FEA, WinISD, etc.)
Fluent in at least one computer based acoustic measurement system (HeadAcoustics, B&K, Sound track, Wave, Audio Precision, MLSSA, Smaart, etc. or equivalent)
Deep understanding of loudspeaker design and strong understand on the technical spec on transducer, Mic, speaker, receiver, e.g. loudness, impedance impact, Qts factor, etc.
Experience tuning signal processing to optimize system audio performance including AER, AEC, NLP, DRC, Double talk performance, PESQ, Latency, Jitter buffer etc.
Proven track record of designing high quality audio products and Methodical and scientific approach to any technical problem
Strong Understand Voice Telephony, DTMF, call features, voice concept, echo
Desire to have coding skill for C, C++ in Linux, Andriod environment for DSP coding and writing test tool
Basic understanding for Data networking, e.g. TCP/IP, DHCP, CDP.
Must have excellent communication skills and be comfortable interacting with cross functional team in different time zone within Cisco. Must speak fluent English. Good Team-work spirit.
Must be comfortable with large-scale team-based SW development and frequent inter-group/company communication
