What You'll Do

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will play a central role in the design and development of the Standalone Nexus 9000 product. Our ideal engineer will have a passion for development and a strong background in building dynamic, highly-available, highly-scalable applications using Java based technologies, as well as operating within a startup-mode environment.

As with any fast-growing startup, we look for self-starters who thrive in a dynamic environment; wearing many hats, being able to change direction quickly, and an eagerness to learn new technologies as the need arises. At Cisco, we are seeking people who can prioritize, multi-task, and deliver.

Who You'll Work With

Data Center is developing the Nexus 9000 line of data center and cloud switches that feature application awareness to make the network infrastructure flexible and agile for dynamic response to application needs and virtual machine workload mobility. Data Center also developed a 40G Ethernet transceiver designed to drastically lower the price of 40G optics to better compete with the Networking industry.

Who You Are

  • Basic networking knowledge with Layer 1 and Layer 2 is a must

  • You'll bring 3+ years of software development experience on large scale, high-volume solutions

  • You can demonstrate your experience with open source Java technologies

  • Experience and understanding utilizing relational databases

  • Experience building service-oriented solutions and RESTful microservices.

  • Experience with writing both unit tests and integration tests

  • Experience with open source Apache products is a plus

  • Experience with container-based deployment is helpful

  • Deep understanding of Java multithreading, concurrency and memory management
