We are seeking a Technical Leader who can participate in architecture design, technical requirements definition, and engineering execution. This individual will be collaborating with Executive Leadership, Product Management, and Customers to drive the success of our latest groundbreaking security innovation, Cisco Hypershield!
What You Will Do
The Backend Technical Leader role works alongside our VP of Security Innovation to develop the backend of the Management Plane driving our next-generation security product, Cisco Hypershield. The management plane is responsible for managing and monitoring and is the brains of our product. As a leader, you will identify and solve obstacles to achieving our vision.
In this role, you should expect to review existing technologies, identify areas to leverage and drive improvement, and create groundbreaking new technology from scratch. You will be part of a small team driving the next evolution of security at Cisco and beyond and must be a self-starter able to work under minimal direction.
You will be looked to both internally and externally Cisco for your expertise, and as such must have deep experience in firewalls, secure web gateways, and/or SASE/SSE. You will use this knowledge coupled with your ambition to write high-quality, production-ready code to re-invent security with us.
Who You Are
You are an innovative software engineering leader, interested in influencing the opinions and decision-making of senior executives and/or major customers on matters of significance to the organization. You are comfortable in design discussions with other architects and engineers. You can present architecture designs and solutions to multiple teams across organizations, gathering feedback that will help us drive consensus and gain alignment. You are not afraid to be creative, and use innovative programming languages, technologies, and tools to drive groundbreaking new products.
Minimum Qualifications
8+ years of programming experience with Typescript, GoLang, C, Javascript or similar languages
Prior experience designing backend solutions for enterprise-grade products
Experience developing new product features from scratch
Development experience in a linux environment
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
Experience integrating third party solutions in areas of network security, management and monitoring
Strong background in network security, protocols and policies. (e.g. firewalls, secure web gateways, and/or SASE/SSE)
Familiarity with AI/ML and in particular, Large Language Models
Experience working alongside UX/UI Design, Product and senior management
Experience leading development teams and being a mentor to more junior developers
