Cisco Senior Software Engineer in Milpitas, California

We are seeking a highly motivated and results-oriented Senior Software Engineer with experience in data engineering and analytics to join our growing team. In this role, you will play a key role in crafting, developing, and deploying data-driven solutions that will help us gain deeper insights from our data and make informed business decisions. You will collaborate closely with engineers, data scientists, and product managers to bring innovative solutions to life and drive organizational impact.

What You'll Do:

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable and robust software systems for data ingestion, storage, processing, and analysis.

  • Develop and implement data pipelines to extract, transform, and load data from various sources.

  • Apply data engineering and analytics techniques to address complex business problems, such as predictive modeling, machine learning, and statistical analysis.

  • Participate in the creation and implementation of data-driven solutions from ideation to production.

  • Collaborate with data scientists to translate their models and algorithms into production-ready software.

  • Develop and detail APIs for accessing and consuming data products.

  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in data science and software development tools and technologies.

  • Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical team members.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of professional experience in software engineering, including a minimum of 2 years specifically dedicated to data engineering and/or data analytics roles.

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with Java and have a working knowledge of other programming languages, such as C++ or Go

  • 2+ years experience with big data tools and technologies such as Flink, Spark, or Kafka.

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience working with Iceberg and Pinot technologies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).

  • Experience with SQL and familiarity with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL).

  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS (preferred), Azure, or GCP.

  • Understanding of machine learning concepts and experience with machine learning libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, scikit-learn).

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
