Sr. Software Engineer What You'll Do You will be a part of the Snort development group -- helping to put together, design, and test a new architecture of a product that has been leading the security field for almost 20 years. Snort is both a vigorous Open Source IDS/IPS as well as the heart of a medley of Cisco System IPS products. We have been releasing copies of the new Snort (Snort++) software to the Open Source public for about a year. The next steps are to incorporate it into our product line and, for that, we need to continue to build the team in size and quality. Who You'll Work With Our team works together to support both the Open Source community as well as within many product groups throughout Cisco. In an Agile environment, we iterate toward continuing to improve our, already top-rated, Snort IPS/IDS security core. You will be part of the next generation of products. Who You Are You are passionate about doing your best -- learning as you move and excited to work on the next challenge. You have strong 'C++' experience and Object-Oriented Programming skills but can still work with basic standard 'C'. Knowledge of build systems and multiple operating platforms is very useful but Linux experience is key. You should be able to troubleshoot from cores and stack traces as well as to delve into network traffic with tools such as Wireshark. Our minimum requirements for this role: * More than 5 years software development experience in C++ and C. * Experience with full stack development in accordance with network and stack troubleshooting. * Understanding of scripting and build environments; familiarity with at least one major scripting language and one IDE.
