Cisco Technical Marketing Engineer --- Python/Go with REST APIs and SDN Technologies --- Experience (3-6 Yrs) in Bangalore, India

Who we are

This is a role within Cisco's Data Center Networking team. Here, you will have the opportunity to work on latest and greatest data center technologies, solutions, switches, and their associated software. This includes designing complex data center architectures, deploying features with application awareness, to make the overall network infrastructure flexible and agile for dynamic response to application needs, virtual machine workload mobility and cloud extension.

What You’ll Do

We are looking for an expert, high-energy Technical Marketing Engineer (TME) to help drive our strategy and customer engagement around SDN, automation, DevOps integration, Open NXOS, Nexus 9000, Nexus Dashboard systems that integrate including hypervisors from VMware, Microsoft and KVM, as well as integrating with Linux containers and Public Clouds. The right candidate will have an opportunity to set internal product direction as well as work closely with critical customers and partners as they design next generation data centers.

You will work with a diverse group of problem solvers and creative thinkers focusing on the Nexus 9000, NX-OS and Nexus Dashboard (ND). This is the Technical Marketing Team that works on the next generation of datacenter and cloud networking. The role requires a high level of initiative, energy and rapid thinking.

Who You Are

A Technical Marketing Engineer is focused on driving solutions and business requirements with customers, the field, and business unit resources supporting the Nexus Dashboard, Nexus 9000, NDFC, and supporting management and analytics platforms. This role will collaborate with our largest and most influential customers requiring a strong technical background in data center including networking, REST API's, programmability including python scripting, SDN, NFV, virtualization and others. This role is highly dynamic and fast paced where the interlock between the customer, the field, and the business unit are critical as we align our features, timelines, and scale based on the customer business requirements helping us to drive our development and roadmap. A critical element to this role is the ability to run Proof of Concept testing, working with engineering, and having in-depth technical knowledge including hands-on work with customers, solutions validation services, advanced services, and the field.

You will contribute to the team in the following ways:

  • Work with Data Center/Enterprise/SP/Commercial/Financial customers and understand their requirements.

  • Develop presentations, collateral, webinars, and present to customers.

  • Develop driven collateral.

  • Work with partners, system integrators and channels.

  • Develop automation suites for network infrastructure.

  • Work on improving and developing our 3rd. party ecosystems integrations

  • Be able to travel as needed to meet customers, launch products, train sales and partners.

Experience required:

  • Experience in engineering, architecture, and technology.

  • Experience with customers in technical marketing / advanced services / TAC.

  • Extensive Experience with programming languages such as Python/Go and source control software (Git)

  • Experience with REST APIs and software development kits (SDKs)

  • Understanding of SDN Technologies - Data Center, WAN or Service Provider

  • Knowledge of routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF, ISIS, VXLAN

  • Understanding of Cloud and virtualization technologies

  • Comfortable addressing customers and Cisco employees

  • Ability to solve complex problems creatively

  • Good verbal and writing skills. Able to create white papers for publishing on Cisco’s website.

  • Must be a teammate and work well in small and large group environments

Desirable skills:

  • BS/MS degree in EE/CS with 2+ years of experience in customer facing roles.

  • Knowledge of network test tools

  • Knowledge of Nexus 9K and Nexus Dashboard is a big plus.

  • Knowledge of automation tools such as Ansible and/or terraform is a big plus.

  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and software development methodologies is desirable.
